Finch Lake Hike 10-8-2010
The Wild Basin area offers some less congested hiking trails. The most popular destinations accessed from the trail system include Calypso Cascades, Ouzel Falls and Ouzel Lake. The trail to Finch Lakes takes off to the left from Calypso Cascades and ascends to the top of a ridge before reaching a trail junction aptly named confusion junction. From Confusion Junction the trail heads off to the right for a ways before reaching the lake. On this day, the group got stuck in a surprise thunder snow weather event. As quickly as the thunder and snow rolled in, it was passed. The sun came out to reveal some aspen leaves covered with water droplets.
